What is this place?

Arcana Check is a little website designed to make it easy to dig through Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition open content.

This site is designed to only show the freely available content in the D&D System Reference Document version 5.1. If you own core or expansion D&D 5th Edition books there may be spells, magic items, or other content in those books that have not been made freely available for everyone to use, so they are not included here. See the License section below for details.

This site is built using the Arcana static site generator.

What makes this the fastest reference site?

First off, no ads.

Second, Arcana Check keeps loading time to a minimum by delivering all the info you need on as few pages as possible.

I found that a lot of D&D reference sites use an index page. You have to scroll through a list of, say, spell names to find the spell you're looking for. When you've found the spell you need, you click the link to open the spell details on a new page. Once that new page loads, you can finally read the spell description. Then you have to hit the back button, wait for the index page to load again, and start scrolling to find the next spell you're looking for.

With Arcana Check, the spells and descriptions are delivered at the same time, so no need to wait for additional page loads. Each page has a reactive table of contents over on the left that makes it easy to get to the spell you're looking for. Or, better yet, use your browser's built-in search function (CTRL-F to open the search bar) and jump directly to what you need.

This site only includes content from the System Reference Document 5.1. If the spell, magic item, or other content is not in that document it should not be on this site.

If we include stuff that isn't freely available or under an open license, the site could get taken down. That's no fun.
